Welcome to the 2026–27 U7 Season!

Welcome back, kids, parents, and coaches! And to all of our new hockey families, welcome to the FYHA family! We're excited to have you join us for another great season of hockey, fun, friendships, and memories.

Registration

Registration is now open. Please follow the steps provided through the link to complete your 2026–27 season registration.

Volunteers Needed!

Let's all do our part to make this another memorable season for our players and families.

I'm calling on all parents, grandparents, family members, and friends to come out and volunteer as coaches and on-ice helpers. This age group needs as much help, guidance, and encouragement as we can provide, and your involvement makes a huge difference.

We can't wait to see everyone out there!

We are looking forward to another fantastic year of hockey, and we can't wait to see all of our U7 players on the ice!

U7 Season Information

The U7 season is tentatively scheduled to begin Saturday, October 3rd.

The division is made up of two groups:

• Minor: Children who are 4–5 years old
• Major: Children who are 6 years old

All players must wear full hockey equipment, and their name must be written on their helmet.

Jerseys and socks will be distributed once teams are finalized and before games begin. Until jerseys and socks are handed out, players will need to provide and wear their own jersey and socks for ice times.

After the first few sessions, your child will be assessed and categorized based on their skill level and assigned a colour. This will help coaches group players with others of a similar skill level during practices and determine which tier they will play in during games.

Your child’s team will be grouped with one other team, and these two teams will practice together throughout the season.

Team Requests

Due to the high volume of team requests, we will not be accepting team requests for the U7 season. Teams will be formed based on player age, skill level, and the overall needs of the division.

We understand that families may have preferences about which team their child plays with, but limiting requests allows us to create balanced teams and provide the best experience possible for all players.

Ice Times

Ice times will be assigned weekly and will typically take place on weekends. Ice times are not set for the entire season in advance and will be communicated as they become available.

The FYHA receives available ice-time slots from the City of Fredericton, and we will do our best to keep schedules as consistent as possible while getting the kids on the ice as much as possible. However, from time to time, scheduling constraints may make this difficult or may require changes to the regular schedule.

November can be a particularly difficult month for scheduling due to the number of hockey tournaments hosted throughout the city. As a result, ice-time availability may be limited during November, and teams may receive fewer ice times than usual.

We appreciate your patience and understanding during these times when the available ice times may not work in your team’s favour. We will always do our best to provide as much ice time as possible and make the schedule work for our players and families.

Games

Games are scheduled to begin December 15th.

Games will consist of two sides:

• Tier 1
• Tier 2

It is the coaches’ responsibility to determine which tier each player will participate in. As the season progresses, players may move up or down between tiers based on their development and the coaches’ assessment of their skill level.

The goal is to ensure that players are grouped with others at a similar skill level, allowing everyone to have a positive and enjoyable experience while continuing to develop their hockey skills.

End-of-Year Jamboree

An end-of-year Jamboree will take place in March to celebrate the season and give the players an opportunity to enjoy a fun weekend together.

The Jamboree will include a weekend full of games, activities, and pizza parties. Volunteers will be needed to help organize and run the event and make the Jamboree a success.

We encourage parents and families to get involved and help make this a memorable end to the U7 season for all of the players.
